Why? How? What? These are the words which keep you going through life. Imagine a world without questions! Asking and being asked questions is the only way to know that you don’t know.
Being with my niece/ colleague’s daughter/ or the children in the tribal school up the hill are all interesting situations I land myself in. These kids are zealous and full of energy, bombarding you with lots and lots of questions. I remember, as a child, I was a very questioning kid too, and I must say my mom handled my questions pretty well. My favorite answer by mom is one in which she explained how the solar eclipse occurs in simple child language!
Growing up, especially in paternalistic environments, doesn’t encourage questioning the status quo. As we age, our questioning talents reduce markedly. How sad, I’d say. Come on, go ahead and ask those earth/life shaking questions! At the workplace, ask your colleague, at home, ask your parents, your spouse, your kids, your friends.
You’ll be surprised at the answers you’ll get! You’ll be blown away even. Warning: You may get answers that are not very pleasant to hear or you may not get an answer at all. Yet, asking is growing. Come on, shoot!
Ask away!
