PART I: Ends first: End of 2018, an era

Ends make you reflect, relive and rewind. They make you think about what’s gone by and what’s in store. The end of a year (or any other time, actually) is a good time to take stock of your decisions, your dreams and your desires (Too much alliteration?! Ah, Well, my brain is wired that way).

What excited you? What set off a downward spiral? What made you dust off the cobwebs in your mind? What were the events that stood out? What were the moments that changed your life irrevocably? When did you slip, trip and stumble? (for me, it was every other day, I’m a ‘serial tripper’ as my partner puts it) Did you then stand up and dust off the trivial tribulations?

What/Who were the things/moments/books/people who inspired you to do better? How often did you piss off your loved ones? How often did you travel, for work, for pleasure, for family? Did you wake up feeling grateful? Did you sleep like a baby? Did you make someone happy? Were you up and about, ‘running around’? Did you stop midway in the hustle bustle, look around and spare a thought for that crowd out there?

‘Adulting’ has this big advantage, of giving you more years to look back on. More years to add life to. (I’m being a little more optimistic than usual, a few notches higher than my usual optimistic, yet cynical self). Well, when some stressors lift their veil and show you a sun-kissed facade, this phenomenon tends to occur Another year has gone by, with its share and mix of happy, tragic, soulful and heart-rending events and experiences. You’re older by chronological age, younger by how you feel inside.

For me, 2018 was a roller coaster, a falooda ice-cream and a lot of other things! For the first time in my life, I co-inhabited with my partner, shared his ups and downs. Mumbai, the maximum city, had a lot to offer and I soaked it all in like a sponge.

PART II: Beginnings next: Beginning of 2019

Looking forward to a healthier, fitter, more socially productive year!

Come mid-year 2019, we will be moving to my partner’s city: Solapur. A wind world of change, yet again, where my adaptation skills will be put to test and use! Like 2017 and 2018 (where I shifted from Vellore to Bangalore and Bangalore to Mumbai respectively), it will be a radical move from one place of residence and work to another. So, this time, it will be Mumbai to Solapur. Packing, moving and the famous ‘settling down’.

We are already four days into the new year and I’m wondering what new things this new year will bring. Some known, a lot unknown! One new something that we are planning is an evidence-based health awareness initiative. Look out for a new health page, that a group of us doctors are going to come out with soon (Tentatively by end of January 2019)! We hope to dispel some myths and create a platform for credible health information!

Looking forward to reading more books, experiencing new things and nurturing all relationships!

Cheers then! To new beginnings and ends!
